For sale a great instrument.... A vintage flugelhorn, YAMAHA 631 with redbrass bell. This model was played by Chuck Mangione. Excellent intonation and playability!!!! A true allrounder.

Here's what Yamaha has to say about this product: The 631 is the traditional Yamaha flugelhorn used by many of the world's leading musicians. The tone is characterized by an extremely round, mellow sound with an abundance of tonal color. It features a gold-brass bell for a soft dark sound and a beautiful lacquer finish. This horn features a .433 bore, monel valves and gold brass brass construction. PLAYS GREAT AND IN TUNE!!

That's strange. The original YFH-631 had a red brass bell. I've owned and played one, and I really liked it. I generally like the red brass bell: my Adams trumpet & flugelhorn both have one. The more recent 631G, which has a gold brass bell, is (in my opinion) a less interesting horn, so I'm confused. "Vintage" implicates that we're talking about the good old red brass 631 ... but you specifically mentioned "gold brass".

This particular instrument? Or do you mean Chuck also played a stock 631? For what I know, this is true, but if you're selling an instrument that was touched by Mr. Mangione...

What do you mean by "construction"?

Hello,

My apologizes for the little confusion about the bell material (has been corrected now in redbrass). I have checked: the 631 model mount a red/rose brass bell.
It is great allround horn, very easy to play. Mellow, warm and round sound with easy upper register. Very precise and plays in tune, excellent intonation.

This horn was not touched by Mr. Mangione himself, it`s just the same model he played. =))

Just CAME to understand I just sold the same flugel played by my hero who made ME love trumpet. If I had known this before, I would not have sold it.

I thought Chuck played a Callichio?

(edited: I typed above post on my phone, Did not see the mistakes made by the autocorrect)

info van "trumpet herald"uit 2003:

Chuck Mangione played a Yamaha flugelhorn with a Giradenelle cornet mouthpiece. He like the sound better. He now uses Callichio flugelhorns.
